The expert panel will discuss how the tech industry might tackle digital waste, data inefficiency, and drive greener AI adoption in line with TechNExt’s Data and AI and Sustainability themes.

Speakers

A Top 100 Global Influencer in Technology (LEAP) and previously the Digital Ambassador of the Year (Computing), David is a film-maker and podcaster. An experienced conference chair and moderator, he brings sharp insight and a no-nonsense approach to dissecting technology’s biggest challenges and opportunities.
Since launching in 2015, ‘Tech Talks’ has published over 800 episodes and become a global hit with listeners as one of the world's leading technology podcasts, regularly appearing on the Apple’s Technology Podcast charts. ‘Tech Flix’ evolved out of the stories discovered on the podcast, with 5 documentaries published to date being screened at tech festivals and alongside world-leading brands and institutions such as NASA, Amazon Web Services, London Tech Week and Columbia University.
David has been with Harvey Nash since 2007, developing a deep understanding of the technology and talent markets. He was invited to become a member of the IADAS in 2025, and is a judge for the Lovie Awards. He has spoken at major global events including Web Summit, Collision, IFA Berlin, TechBBQ, London Tech Week, Web Summit Rio, Unleash World, Unleash Paris, Unbound, Big Data World, and Viva Tech.

Jayne is passionate about using technology to improve patient care, empower staff, and drive sustainable change. She specialises in making the complex simple, translating ambitious digital goals into practical, people-centred solutions. A strong advocate for the safe, ethical use of data across health services, she champions joined-up, insight-driven approaches that support better outcomes for individuals and communities.
Outside work, Jayne is Vice Chair of Stepney Bank Stables, a children’s charity in Newcastle that provides opportunities for young people through equine-assisted programmes. She’s also a vocal evangelist for ethical leadership, digital inclusion, and community-driven innovation.



Paul considers himself an explorer rather than a technologist, drawn to new opportunities and challenging the norm – but embraces the value technology brings in helping create novel solutions to business and societal problems.

How to get involved
Please read the information back below, and then fill out an expression of interest form. This will let us know you’d like to take part, what age the participating children are and whether you’d like any support from us or an ‘industry mentor.’
Plan your challenge, consider your resources and the participating students. Challenges can be completed in small or large groups. but please be aware that only 8-10 students from selected schools will be able to attend the celebration event.
Submit your challenge responses via our online form below. Your school can submit up to 10 entries. The deadline for responses is Friday 9 May, 2025. Please get in touch if you are struggling to meet the deadline.
The Schools Challenge steering committee will identify a small group of students from selected schools to be invited to a celebration event on the morning of Friday 20 June at South Shields Customs House.
If selected, you will be invited to attend by 23 May. There will also be an opportunity to display students‘ work as part of a number of public
exhibitions across local authority areas.
