He has been working with AWS customers and partners to help them use technology innovation to accelerate renewable energy production, build a smarter, flexible grid, and launch new solutions that scale the energy transition across industry and consumers. He is also working with industry on how digital innovation, AI & IoT can be used to solve some of UK’s unprecedented water challenges. Mohammed has a background in Electrical Engineering & Machine Learning.

Under her leadership, the team crafts innovative digital experiences across web, mobile apps, and connected platforms. She has collaborated with some of the UK’s most prominent businesses, including AJ Bell and Tesco Bank, as well as global brands like Under Armour, driving impactful, user-centric solutions at the forefront of digital transformation.

Foluso leads the Commercial Due Diligence Practice at Whitecap Consulting, a regional strategy consultancy headquartered in Leeds, with offices across the UK, including Newcastle. Whitecap helps predominately mid-market organisations analyse, develop and implement growth strategies and commercial optimisation. Foluso has extensive experience in delivering growth initiatives, and commercial due diligence engagements across multiple sectors. Foluso and the team have worked in established markets, developing several high growth market sectors and ecosystems including Tech, FinTech, LegalTech, Prof(Professional)Tech and Life Sciences. More recently the team has developed an interest in CleanTech and its potential to drive economic activity, skills and employment benefits for regions.

Garry Kendall is currently the New Technology & Product Development Leader – International for the Flexible Pipe Systems (FPS) business at Baker Hughes. In this role, Garry has responsibility for leading the multi-disciplined Product Development, Testing and Non-Metallic Materials engineering organisation as well as the management of the Newcastle Energy Technology Innovation Centre (NETIC) facility located in the North East of England. Garry has previously held numerous technical and management roles within FPS since joining in 2008.

How to get involved

Please read the information back below, and then fill out an expression of interest form. This will let us know you’d like to take part, what age the participating children are and whether you’d like any support from us or an ‘industry mentor.’

Plan your challenge, consider your resources and the participating students. Challenges can be completed in small or large groups. but please be aware that only 8-10 students from selected schools will be able to attend the celebration event.

Submit your challenge responses via our online form below. Your school can submit up to 10 entries. The deadline for responses is Friday 9 May, 2025. Please get in touch if you are struggling to meet the deadline.

The Schools Challenge steering committee will identify a small group of students from selected schools to be invited to a celebration event on the morning of Friday 20 June at South Shields Customs House.

If selected, you will be invited to attend by 23 May. There will also be an opportunity to display students‘ work as part of a number of public
exhibitions across local authority areas.
