Designing a joined up government experience

Overview
In this session, we’ll explore the strategy behind creating a truly joined-up government experience—and why getting data right is at the heart of it. We’ll unpack the key challenges and share real examples of how departments are tackling them, from building the National Data Library to shaping the future of government’s data strategy.
You’ll hear why consistent data standards and interoperability are essential foundations—and how teams across CDDO, DfE, GDS, HMCTS, and DWP are already making progress.
We’ll showcase the scale of the ambition, highlight the practical work underway, and shine a light on what it really takes to deliver connected, user-centred services across government.
Speakers

She brings over 20 years of experience in digital leadership roles across government. Before joining Scrumconnect, she was Deputy Director of Product at DWP Digital, where she led the transformation of major national services including State Pension, Pension Credit and the Child Maintenance Service.
At DWP, Fay also played a pivotal role in developing the Shared Channels Experience team, focusing on improving the common customer experience across GOV.UK services. This initiative defined seamless end-to-end journeys, ensuring that services were built around user needs rather than organisational boundaries. Her work drew on user research and data to inform more joined-up and accessible digital services.
Alongside her central government work, Fay has held senior roles in local government, leading digital strategy and service transformation. Additionally, she currently serves on the advisory board of Dynamo North East, supporting the growth of the digital sector in the region.
